Why a newsletter?

I’ve been a literary agent since 2005, and a writer and reader for far longer. During most of my years with The Knight Agency, I’ve kept a public-facing blog or website of some sort, but posts have grown sporadic as social media has evolved in various directions, and the site has become mostly a hub for announcements and other business. The time has come for something a little different. A bit more personal.

A newsletter allows me to share on another level. To tell a slightly longer story, delve a bit deeper, get a little more honest and passionate about things. As you invite me into your inbox, I invite you to pull up a chair, grab a drink, to settle in for a visit. And not just a one-sided visit, but one that welcomes responses and conversation.

Love books and reading? Writing craft? Curious about the publishing industry and what life is like for a literary agent? Join me here. I anticipate sending out a couple of issues a month. We’ll see how that goes.

Why the title?

Tempest in a Teacup, while being an obvious play on my name, begs the question of why not a teapot? For me, a cup feels more informal, something I’d offer if you came around for a cookie and a gossip. That’s the vibe I’m aiming for here. Cozy.

Stay up-to-date

Every new edition of the newsletter goes directly to your inbox, so you won’t need to go searching or remember a posting schedule. But you can always visit the website here to read through the archive.
